Four people are in custody as Halifax Regional Police investigate a weapons complaint in Clayton Park.

Police were called to an apartment building on Caxton Close around 12:50 p.m. Monday.

The superintendent told police he had been investigating a noise complaint in the building when he heard what he believed was a firearm being manipulated inside one of the units.

Police were preparing to make contact with the people inside when three men exited the unit. They were taken into custody without incident.

A woman inside the apartment was also arrested and taken into custody.

While searching the area, police say the officers found an assault rifle and ammunition on the grass directly below the apartment in question.

Two 29-year-old men and a 30-year-old man, as well as a 26-year-old woman, remain in custody.

There is no word on charges at this time.
