Police are asking for the public’s help in locating two patients reported missing from a mental health facility in Ontario, and who may now be in New Brunswick.

Cara Duval, who also goes by Donnelly, and Joseph Pepin were reported missing from the North Bay Regional Health Centre’s Mental Health and the Law program on Jan. 22.

The pair failed to return from permitted off-unit privileges. Investigators believe they left North Bay in Pepin’s vehicle.

Police say they have received information that Duval and Pepin were in Hanwell, N.B. on Tuesday. The pair was identified on an in-store camera at the Irving gas station on Hanwell Road around 2:30 p.m.

“Concern for their well-being and safety continues,” said North Bay Police in a statement. “Without ongoing monitoring and supervision, both pose a significant threat to public safety.”

Pepin, 39, is described as a white male with brown hair and blue eyes. He is six-feet-tall and weighs 174 pounds. He may be wearing a grey coat, jeans and running shoes.

Duval, 37, is described as a white female with brown, shoulder-length hair and brown eyes. She is five-foot-one and weighs 117 pounds. She was last seen wearing a blue coat, pink boots and a blue and black toque.

They may be travelling in a 2006 dark grey Volkswagon Jetta bearing an Ontario marker BRVK449.

The public is advised not to approach Duval or Pepin and to call 911 immediately if they see them.
