There was a small earthquake in southwestern Nova Scotia on Thursday.

According to National Resources Canada, the earthquake happened around 5:43 p.m. about 19 kilometres north and 41 kilometres southwest of Yarmouth.

The earthquake was a 3.1 magnitude quake and had a depth of 10 kilometres, according to National Resources Canada.

Many residents in Yarmouth and Shelburne counties reported on social media that they had felt the quake.

No damage has been reported.
