A suspect is in custody after a man was attacked in downtown New Glasgow, N.S. last week.

Police responded to reports of an assault outside the Roseland Cabaret on Provost Street on Oct. 10.

When officers arrived, they found a 46-year-old man suffering from life-threatening head injuries.

He was taken to the Aberdeen Hospital and later airlifted to a Halifax hospital for further treatment. He remains in hospital in critical condition.

Police arrested 23-year-old Steven James Lawrence in connection with the incident on Thursday.

He is due in court on Monday to face a charge of aggravated assault.
